One cool thing that happened is that I scored on a very inexpensive (as
in Nicole's office was getting rid of) an old Power Mac, one of the
expandable types with replaceable drives and stuff. This is close to the
ideal system for processing photos. Unfortunately, due to Apple's
attitudes towards backward compatibility, all sorts of things won't work
with it, like my thunderbolt monitor, and most PCIE USB 3 cards. As
such, despite it being a windfall, it has also incurred a fair amount of
cost in both money and time.

On Saturday I started having issues with my septic system. There is a
slight chance that it might be repaired for only a few thousand dollars,
but the most probable outcome is looking like $40,000 for an engineered
system.

Yesterday morning, Zab was woken by a thump in the front yard. By the
time she got tot he front yard, the perpetrator had driven off, but she
was amused to find the Narrow Bridge sign from 50' up the road on our
front stairs. Another day of repairs for me, but on some levels
amusing, particularly if she wasn't the one who had to do the work. What
she did not notice was the caved in driver's door on my miata, or the
way the retaining wall for the driveway collapsed after the miata was
pushed into it.

While talking with Ray, my contractor who does great work for a
reasonable price, and who I have good working rapport with, mentioned
that he is applying for a job with the county. One that would probably
pay better than he is earning on his own, plus which has benefits.

Over the weekend we started hearing the distinctive scrabbling of
wildlife in portions of the house where we don't want wildlife.
