I don't know what Epson scanner you are using, but I would expect that
you should be able to get good results with 35mm slides. I had good luck

It is a perfection 2480. For the purposes of scanning all of my stuff, for memorabilia and the like, it's definitely good enough. The workflow with it, however is a bit clunky, only one slide or five negative frames at a time can fit in the frame that holds it under the light in the lid.

with batch scanning 35mm color Ektachrome slides using a Canon Canoscan
FS4000 in the past. As I recall, more contrasty and saturated films
(Velvia and E100VS for example) needed more tweaking. But could batch
scan E100S and Provia with few problems. Canon had its own version of IR
dust removal (I think it was called FARE) that worked pretty well.

My plan, such as it is, is to do a decent job of scanning everything. If I find any particular gems, then I'll go and rescan those with lots of care, if needed. Not only do I have my negatives dating back to 1973, but I've also got a couple generations worth of family photos.

I'd like to just have everything in one catalog on lightroom so I can sort and tag them all easily, rather than trying to do it manually before scanning the negatives.
