Hello Christine, a good DVD Ripper is DVD Decrypter. It was Open Source Software and totally FREE.
The Developer was a young enthusiastic IT Engineer then, but he has stopped all work on it and moved on. You can still download it if you google. But no support will be available. It is the safest and most powerful (no malware) and will even rip copy right protected DVDs. If you can't find it let me know. I will then post a zipped copy on Dropbox. File size is only 900 KB.
