It, like 8, performs faster than 7. I've been using it since they
first launched the final build (which has been updated several times
now) and the few showstoppers I had were all fixed and were all
certainly attributed to poor initial driver support. It seems to swap
a bit harder on my laptop which only has 8gb of ram. Also lightroom
seems to now be using a lot more RAM, so I have that working against
me as well. One thing you will notice is that it definitely uses RAM a
lot more actively as cache. It will even compress pages instead of
swapping them out immediately. This is why Win10 has a compressed
memory system task now. It seems to work fairly well, but I've had
some high ram situations make my computer slow to a complete crawl as
it swapped heavily. I'm guessing that moving to an SSD would vastly
improve performance for me, but then so would adding more RAM too.

I see no reason to run windows 7 anymore personally. Even on older
hardware Windows 10 seems to run faster in general. Startup time on my
laptop is abysmal. I will say that. It wasn't really great with
windows 7 either. Vanilla windows 10 loads right up though, but once
you start adding a lot of startup programs be prepared to wait a
little bit. Its nothing really new for me and my solution is to just
never reboot. Easy.
