I got back to Boston yesterday after spending nearly two weeks traveling up and down the eastern U.S.
GFm was great this year, as usual. Got to hang out with Doug Brewer, drinking beer and trash talking everyone else on the PDML. Good times. The Big surprise of GFM this year is when list lurker Katie Weber won best in show at the photo contest. We judges don't know the names attached to any of the photographs until after the judging is complete, though we can sometimes guess. But we were bowled over when we found out whose shot it was. Next I headed south to Georgia to visit my parents. My dad isn't doing very well so I wanted to take the opportunity to see him while I was "in the area" (a long days' ride away). But I seemed to have picked up a cold at GFM and spent three days at my parents' place sniffling and feeling miserable. Still good to see them, though. Three days ride to get home featured a stop in Winston-Salem to see a friend there and another stop in Harrisburg, PA at which Scott Loveless was able to get out for a couple of beers this time. He was very impressed with this year's PDML Annual and is even threatening to come to GFM next year. Excellent. The journey was a first outing for the K-1, which acquitted itself beautifully. I didn't get much shooting done but I'm starting to learn the camera and really appreciate its abilities. Also, my Triumph Sprint handled all this high speed travel without skipping a beat. Nice to get through a trip like this with no equipment issues. -- Mark Roberts - Photography & Multimedia www.robertstech.com --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
