Apparently the new Pentax "DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3ED PLM WR RE" (whew!) sports the latest variation on the venerable K mount, which features the electronic aperture control that I've been predicting for the past couple of years. It's clearly been in the works for a while and Ricoh was smart enough to start making cameras compatible with it before the lens hit the market. The K-3 II, K-S2 and K-S1 can (with a firmware update) use this lens. I expect we'll see compatible lenses for quite some time yet before the diaphragm actuation lever goes the way of the "aperture simulator", at least from Pentax. I would expect 3rd party lens makers to go for the KAF4 mount first because it'll make their manufacturing process slightly simpler. -- Mark Roberts - Photography & Multimedia www.robertstech.com --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
