On my drive over hwy 17 last week, I had the opportunity to chat with a CHP officer. He showed me photos of his Mustang.

I was heading to San Jose last week, when I saw all sorts of emergency vehicles, including a Calstar medevac helicopter at the "unofficial" helipad at the summit. I decided it would be a good chance to try out the K-1 and 28-105. I pulled into the parking lot, grabbed the camera and started taking photos from a good distance away. I noticed a CHP officer gesturing at me, though I could not figure out what he was trying to convey. He wandered over and said that I could get closer to photograph if I wanted to. He asked if I was with a paper, and I said that I was just doing it for fun. He then looked at me and asked if he knew me. Do I drive a miata? About a year ago, when a CHP was running a radar trap on a straight section of road that has very few accidents, I stopped in the pullout he was in to ask him why he was doing a radar trap on a very safe section of road. We ended up chatting for about half an hour. He asked if I also had a mustang, and I said no, but my girlfriend has five.

Anyways, I spent a while taking photos, particularly after things started happening and they transferred the patient to the chopper.

Here's a shot of them wheeling the patient to the waiting helicopter.

Alexis, the CHP officer I mentioned in the story is the one looking at me in the second shot (772). Several of these photos have been cropped down quite a bit. Many of them are on the far side of ISO 6400.
