Nick,

As I understand it, the bellows unit has a stopdown button much like a
shutter button. The double cable release goes into the camera shutter
and the bellows button. When you push the release, first the bellows
stops down the lens and then the second portion of the release fires
the shutter in the camera. Meter readings either need to be taken
with the lens stopped down or in aperture priority. Since the lens
stops down before the shutter is fired, the camera body can make a
reading for subject and properly expose. The TTL meter will adjust
for bellows extension.

The ideal camera for this type of unit is the LX. With it's low light
meter off the film and changeable finders to allow for more
comfortable viewing and focusing, I would find it the perfect
combination. Note that cameras that can't take a traditional cable
release (PZ, ZX types) can't use the double cable release and will
always have to be used stopped down.

Also, the bellows can handle mounting a lens reversed for further
magnification. In that case, you do have to stop the lens down - the
double cable release doesn't help much.

Hope this explanation helps.

I am awaiting confirmation that the unit is probably sold.
