Hi All,
In the past year, I've been trying "Moab Exhibition Luster 300" paper:
http://moabpaper.com/lasal-exhibition-luster-300/
(I am using 5x7, but that doesn't matter.)
I am using Epson R2880 with the ICC profiles provided by the manufacturer.
Overall it is a well looking paper, and it was reasonably priced.
But...
The appearance of the print is EXTREMELY sensitive to the light.
Yes, all photos look differently depending on whether you see them
under bright or dim light. But in this case it is very much different from
all other paper I've used. A few times, I've been thrown off but thinking
that the print was too dark when I looked at it in the room that had
indirect, shadowed light, while it was just fine in a brightly lit room.
I am looking at the photo I printed this afternoon, - and now when I am
seeing it under the incandescent (not the brightest) light, it seems to be
dark to the extent I'd throw it away. Under a brighter fluorescent light,
it looks fine (or almost fine).
(It is still a bit darker than what I'd expect based on the preview, and I
think my screen calibration is still reasonable. -- If anything, John
thought my photos in the recent PESO were too bright...)
Has anybody had experience with this paper?
Did you see something similar?
Have you seen such behavior with other papers?
Other types of paper I've been using were from Epson, Ilford and Premier.
Thank you,
Igor
