The indigenous Southern African tribesmen had an elaborate system of stone terraces to separate cattle, crops & villages. Great Zimbabwe is probably the best known. The advancing Zulus over-ran these peaceful tribes in the middle ages, only the ruins being left today. These naturally formed rock terraces, south of Letaba camp in the Kruger Park, resemble the man-made ones & have given rise to legends of an extinct giant race because the individual rocks are quite big.
