The K-3II also has the Pixel shift technology that Ricoh is putting into all the new Pentax cameras. I don't think that that technology is available in the K-3 even with a firmware upgrade. Whether that's a hardware limitation or just a corporate decision to keep give the two models greater differentiation, is left for the users to speculate.

Larry,

Upon further investigation, it seems the K-3 has almost the exact same video features as the K-3ii. Correct me if I'm mistaken but it seems the only two differences are built in GPS and longer battery life. Is this correct?

That does sound like a good deal. I'm looking for the high frame rates of the K-3 though...

I'd like to buy used for economical reasons. I'm getting into doing some video work and I've been using a K-5 (borrowed from my brother) which produces beautiful shots but the short recording time in an issue and the low frame rate options.

Larry, let me know if you'd be interested in selling either of your cameras and what price you were thinking. Also, thanks for the good tip on search tempest.

Cheers!

I have a K-5 that I'll let go for $200. Don't know if that's a good deal, but I would think so.

If you're looking to buy new, B&H currently beats that price on a K-3 with the K-3ii about $150 more.

Far be it from me to take money out of the hands of a list member, but Amazon has at least one vendor selling New K-3 cameras for $735.00.

It's coming from Taiwan so it might be an international warranty, but even then the price is pretty much the same as you'd pay for an Ex++ used copy.

I was thinking $400 — $700 if this seems reasonable. I am interested in the K-3, although since I'll mostly be using it for video, I like the external mic & headphone jacks that the K-3ii has.

Let me know if you'd be interested in selling either of yours!

Greetings Pentaxians,

I am looking to buy a used K-3ii and wondering if you have any leads. I've looked extensively on Craigslist and haven't found a single one for
sale...
What price range are you looking at? Would you be interested in a K-3?

I ended up with one of each, but was going to keep the K-3ii as a backup body.

Thanks,
Immanuel
