Sounds like a great experience.  Swarming bees are usually very passive,
so they're usually safe to approach.  If you're in New Mexico, though,
there's always the chance that they're the Africanized bees that the media
touted as "killer bees," and they tend to be a fair bit more irritable.
I'd think twice about going near bee swarms in the southern states without
protective clothing.
