Bob, I had an enjoyable time scrolling through your Photostream. Many of the images .could be in my back yard. I suppose rural, third world Africa is much the same all over.

That's the same way that indigenous Britons built their's. In Ethiopia I went for a long walk one day and came upon a man and his family re-roofing their thatched tukul (https://www.flickr.com/photos/kolfekeranyo/2969327740/). He asked me to buy him a tin roof, which I declined.

The indigenous Africans build traditional thatched huts (rondavels) using smallish tree trunks & then plaster the walls with with mud. The overhanging thatched roofs keep the walls dry so they are actually quite durable. When brick construction with minimal overhang corrugated iron roofs took over, many still used mud rather than cement for building. The consequences were often disastrous because driving rain leached out the mud & the whole hut collapsed.

Regarding the unfinished adobe... you looked before I loaded three more...

I showed that one especially to reveal the way the traditional adobe
dwellings were/are constructed..

anyway, glad you found them interesting

Very interesting images, Ann. Nothing like anything I've ever seen. I hope the last one is now plastered.
