*flips open his manual* hmmm... let me see here...
First of all, does everyone else's manual also have the wrong information regarding the setting of this custom function? or am I just a nut? My manual says that 7-0 sets the camera to set exposure for the background, and that 7-1 sets the camera to expose according to flash program line. But even the picture that is accompaning the text shows it to be the opposite. And yes, I've tried it on my pz1p and it really is the opposite of what they say. Anyway, to answer the question. Yes, CF 7 also affects how the camera sets exposure in 250 mode. If you set this mode on your camera you are essentially in manual mode, you are simple limiting yourself to only one shutter speed. IE- 1/250th. But you are still in control of setting the aperature. One of the many great features of the hypermanual mode of the pz1p is that when you hit the "IF" button on the back of the camera, it will automatically jump to what the meter says is the correct exposure. In regular manual you can choose whether it changes both aperature and shutter values, just aperature, or just shutter (via CF #6). In 250 sync mode, you have "locked" the shutter at 250th, so it can only change the aperature. Assuming you are using a TTL flash, you can set your camera to 250 mode, "match the needle" and bang away. I can't say that I exactly understand why you would want to use this mode anyway. Even in the studio I've never felt compelled to lock my camera into only using it's max sync speed. And certainly on location, I really like being able to mix ambient lighting with a small touch of the flash. If you're locked into only 250 there won't be too many indoor places where you can get ambient exposure with that shutter speed. -- Nick Wright http://www.wrightfoto.com/ ---------- >From: Cameron Hood <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: Question: 1/250 sync on PZ1-P >Date: Sun, May 12, 2002, 3:32 PM > > Does custom function #7 (setting exposure for background) also affect the > flash exposure in 250 sync mode?
