Can I leave it up to you guys to sort out an itinerary, as we really have
little idea of what's good to visit. The only caveat is that Jan would like
to see the redwoods, so that might help the decision-making process. We're
happy to visit SF itself on a by-foot trip on the alternative day.

Subject: Bay Area meetup with the Coyle's

I haven't seen any discussion about meeting up with John and Jan this week.
I might not be able to drive at the track event on Thursday, so I might be
free then, but I have Friday blocked of to visit with them.

I'm also curious about their, other people's interest in seeing a bit more
of the bay area than just SF. My suggestion would be to head down the coast
from SF to moss landing with a possible detour to the redwoods in my
neighborhood, and meeting for dinner someplace in the South Bay or on the
Peninsula.
I'd be totally up for giving them a ride for at least half of the loop if
someone could get them from SSF/Brisbane/Daly City down the coast.
Maybe meeting up at Pigeon Point or Half Moon bay on their drive down.

Points of interest on that loop:
The new park at Devil's slide
Various parks and beaches down the coast:
Waddell Creek
Wilder Ranch
Davenport, sharkfin cove
Pigeon Point Lighthouse

Henry Cowell, Fall Creek, Castle rock or Big Basin parks

Innumerable wineries

There are often lots of critters to see at Moss Landing. John Francis seemed
to enjoy our visit a few weeks ago, where I got my best sea otter photos so
far.

Boomeria in the Santa Cruz mountains, where a teacher from my high school
used to let the students have big water battles and let them build a castle,
tunnels and a 2500 pipe organ http://boomeria.com/tour/tour.html

Roaring camp, the steam train in Felton can also be worth a few minutes and
is next door to Henry Cowell state park.

In downtown Santa Cruz, Pacific Ave can be an entertaining blend of touristy
shopping and hippie buskers and street venders, and there is also the wharf,
boardwalk, and a few miles south the cement boat.

There are, of course, plenty of iconic things to see and do in SF, and
Marin, but they want to see some of the more unique bits of the Bay Area.
