Thanks, Brian. The area where the "healing" dirt is located is actually quite small. I can't imagine that some replenishment hasn't taken place over the years. Even though I am not a believer, this does not seem to me to be a fraud or improper act, as long as the dirt is from the general area that has been venerated for many years.
