I've used the 600mm Vivitar S1 Solid cat. It works pretty well when you
get the focus right. It is really tough to focus correctly when
shooting the moon, everything looks to be in focus, but since they focus
beyond infinity, you can be off enough to get really soft photos.

I wonder if anyone has ever tried the mirror 800 mm lenses for
shooting the Moon. They also used to be sold with a 2x TC.
(IIRC they were Korean: Samyang/Rokinon ?)
