Perfect timing, we've just replaced the railings on my apartment building,
at a cost of A$120,000 for 14 units, seven floor building. Most of the cost
was the builders having to erect a swing stage to get to the various levels,
plus, for the second time, rectifying concrete cancer where found - very
little, fortunately. We went for powder-coated aluminium, as the previous
painted steel had to be repainted several times over their 35-year life, and
the rust emanating from their fixings was what caused the cancer!

Loads of expense just erecting platforms/scaffolding to do such work. I
replaced everything I could - guttering etc - when I had that done, to save
paying for that twice.
