Hi Ken - thanks, you're welcome! Not sure we had any particular expectations, but it was certainly an interesting experience! Because we stayed in South San Francisco, we were able to see a lot of the outer suburbs, as well as, thanks to Larry, seeing quite a lot of the attractions of the area too. The city itself does have a nice feel in many ways, but the number of homeless and other disadvantaged people was quite disturbing: we walked along Howard Street, just two blocks down from Market St, and the difference is manifest: tourists and wealth versus poverty and homelessness.
However, overall, we met some great people, and one day will probably return.
