Hello To All, Here are my thoughts on my new lens. Of course it's built like a tank which is normal for Tokina 's ATX line. I was surprised that it has a built in lens hood! Very Nice indeed. I finally got a chance to do some testing of it's optical performance. I would say that wide open at 500mm, it's not as sharp as my Tokina 100-300 f4 ATX lens at 300mm f4, but if you stop it down to f8 it's alot better and f11 is very sharp. So, I'm quite pleased with it and it's not as heavy as I expected it to be. It's ONLY 4.8 pounds, that's all. But seriously, it balances quite well with my PZ1p. It's one of the largest/longest telephoto zooms you can still handhold with faster films. So, bottom line, I'm quite happy with it, It's no Pentax 600mm 5.6, but then again, I didn't empty all the bank accounts either to buy it.
