Can't answer you with other than logic. Telling a camera you want to do
things without it's help (Manual) would cause said camera to turn auto
features off. Including communications between the flash and camera.
It is assuming you wish to do something outside of it's area of knowledge,
and can not be of any assistance. For it to try would be a problem for both
of you!
