How many of these were made?

Not enough.

Is there any relationship between the serial numbers and the dates?

Probably not. They probably did some ouija board consultation, came
up with a projected demand, rounded up to the nearest thousand, and
made a batch. And then moved on to other things.
(This is the same answer I would give if you asked about the FA* 200/4.0 Macro.)

Obviously there is some relationship between manufacturing date & serial
numbers. Those manufactured early in a batch run would have lower serial
numbers than those manufactured later.

The problem would be getting the data to determine the range of serial
numbers allocated for the batch, the rate of production & how many days
production ran for that particular batch.
