Perhaps - but you'd have to lucky (or unlucky) to come across one
outside of a zoo or wildlife park.  I've only ever seen a couple in the
wild and they both quickly slithered off in the opposite direction to
the way I was running...

Seriously - Australia's reputation for dangerous wildlife if vastly
overstated - no lions, no tigers, no mountain lions, no bears.  Nothing
that's going to eat you apart from the odd crocodile in the tropics and
a shark or two - but, geez, we're not alone there.
