Yep...
it's quiet.. :)

My weekend's been sucked up with computer upgrades/moves for my family - Mom
and Dad get a "new" PII 350 while I get the headache of transferring all the
hard drive and other equipment out of the old Pentium 200mhz and into the
"new" box - They also get my flatbed scanner (Microtek Xe6l) and SCSI cd-rw
(Yamaha 6416).

However

That all got done yesterday :)
So today - it's actually turning out to be quite beautiful in Toronto - it's
"my" day. My first shot at developing my own B&W film after some 22 years
should be rather interesting - I've done a run through in the dark using an
old exposed roll - now to mix the chemicals (let's see.... I add water to
acid right ? *smirk*) - While floating around on http://www.usefilm.com I
was told that I'm attempting a very "tough" film to develop (Tmax - 100 asa)
and that I should have all the chemicals within a degree of each other -
I'm going to follow Aaron's cheat sheet instead :)

I love long weekends... you folks in the U.S. get one next weekend and I
wish I had one every weekend :)

Cheers,
Dave

P.S. Frank - The gorillas in B&W would be cool though :)

Subject: Victoria Day

Hi, All,

As someone said, boy it's been quiet here over the last coupla days.
What's up with that? It's Victoria Day weekend here in Canada (except
Quebec); is it a holiday weekend elsewhere? Ah yes, yet another
remnant of our glorious Colonial past; despite the fact that we've been
"independant" for over 130 years, we still celebrate Queen Victoria's
birthday.

It's more often called "May Two Four" - ostnensibly because Her
Highness' birthday is actually on the 24th - but in reality because it's
traditionally the first weekend of summer, and everyone buys a "two
four" (ei, a pack of 24 beer) and gets out of town to party (or stays in
town to party). Unfortunately for us here in Southern Ontario, we are
in the midst of the coldest May Two-Four in 50 years. High of about 10
today, low of maybe 0 (average high should be 18), and a chance of rain
Ick..

I have access to my children this weekend, and we are about to head off
to the Metro Toronto Zoo for the day, picnic lunch and all. It's a
wonderful zoo, and although I do have problems with animals in cages,
this zoo is fairly modern and most large animals are in large
enclosures, and roam around a fair bit.

Although I usually shoot b&w, I think the zoo screams for colour, so I
went out and bought an el-cheapo 3 pack of Kodacolor Gold 200 to load in
the MX. This should give the Sigma 3.5 50-200 APO zoom a good work out.

Oh yeah, it's a Victoria Day tradition to set off fireworks. I always
buy some cheap ones at the corner store, and the kids and I set them off
after dark. Might bring along a camera, and see what I can do, but I'm
not expecting much.

What else is anyone else doing this weekend? Sorry to go on about
Canada and Victoria Day and all, but hey, it's been deadly quiet here,
so I thought I'd ramble.

ciaou,
frank
