I think it would be fairer to describe it as British culture than British history.
In some cases I got it right because I knew the subject rather than the photograph - this was the case for the first one, the naked person posing as Rodin's Thinker - I'd never seen the photo before but I recognised the person. But for others, if you know the photograph then you know the answer; and by 'know the photograph' I don't mean just that you've seen it before, but that you actually know something about it. That would be the case with the Brunel photo, for example, and the Sidney Street one. In some cases I got it right not because I knew the right answer, but because I knew the others were wrong. Of course it helps if you're a bit of a collector of books about British photography. > On 19 Mar 2017, at 21:37, ann sanfedele <[email protected]> wrote: > > Exactly - that is where I fail miserably > > my original score of 2 will no doubt bring joy to many - the ones I got > right required only that I recognize certain very famous people... > > when I did it a second time I scored 6... was feeling pretty miserable > after seeing the first two scores Bob, and Chris ... felt better > when I saw the 4's :-) > > ann > >> On 3/18/2017 1:31 PM, John Francis wrote: >> I only got 8, but I'm quite happy with that. >> >> It's really rather more of a test of British history than specifically of >> photography. >> > > > -- > PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List > [email protected] > http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net > to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow > the directions. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
