Thanks to all that replied.

This is my first use of Smugmug, and I didn’t realize that the whole gallery
would post.

Anyway… to address a few of the comments and explain a few things:

The city was very clean. The economy is still terrible, so there are many
vacant buildings, but basic services seem good.

If you look at the graffiti in the last photo, you will see Byron and Ravel;
both of those are apparently authentic.

The first photo looks down on the neighborhood our hotel was in. The park with
the monumental columns illustrates how ubiquitous ruins are in that part of the
world (as our host said, “You can’t put a spade in the dirt without disturbing
an antiquity.”)

The fourth photo is from the Acropolis Museum, which is a wonder. Ruins
uncovered during the excavation and construction are nicely displayed, as shown.

Photo the fifth is the Temple of Poseidon in Sounion, where we took a half-day
trip.

The woman in the next photo is a colleague who treats brain tumor patients at
CHOP. She was amused and intrigued (the guy was a bit of a ham) and made a
donation.

Cheers,

Rick
