I would think it would be fine. I've used mine for newspaper work since 1998 as my workhorse camera. It's had more rolls than I can count put through it, and it's been absolutely everywhere with me, vacations and all, oceans to deserts, accident sites in the pouring rain, freezing cold and blizzards, and boiling hot and humid southern summers. It isn't quite as pretty as it used to be, but I have no complaints about its performance -- it's never once failed me. I would advise purchasing the battery grip, though. It gives better battery performance and makes the camera a little bit easier to hold.

A friend of mine is going to Africa this fall and she is in great need of a new camera. She asked me for advice and I suggested a MZ5n with some nice lenses. My question to the allknowing list is, will the MZ5n handle three months in darkest Africa (desert/steppe, not jungle)? The MZ-S would of course be better but she's on a budget of US$600-700 and she's not that a good friend that I lend her mine MZ-S :-) I might mention that this is here first SLR. I don't think the LX would fit here all that well. Thanks! Petter Skne, Sweden - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
