thanks Stan. this particular State in India, Uttarakhand, has some of
the 'holiest' hindu piligrimage sites and routes but we see that
our treks (our fourth one in the State so far) avoid these routes. the
two routes we did this year are not traditional piligrimage routes
though a religious festival is held once every 12 years by the local
people in the first part of the route.

Chaukhamba is indeed impressive but it was pretty far away from the
trail we had taken this year. but it shouldn't be too difficult to find
a nice trail nearby. anything for a pdml gathering :)
