Mark, I think Ann nailed it when she wrote “there is a whole novel in this 
photo.” I have come back to it several times since you posted it. Very 
intriguing, but falling short of its potential, I think.

The problem I have is with exposure. I thought from the blowing tree that there 
was a storm coming in, and that the unevenly exposed sky was because of storm 
clouds and rain curtains. That’s not clearly the case, though. One might try 
boosting the contrast so that the sky is more dramatic, and the contrast with 
the bright grassy band of the mid-ground stronger. The dark band of foreground 
just seems confusing; one could brighten it so that it is closer to the 
mid-ground.
