Taken in 2012. At Ruth Bancroft Garden, Walnut Creek, CA. She is a local woman who started planting succulents and cacti (low water use plants) in her garden in the 1970's. At some point, the garden had grown so large, she donated it to the city.

I think of a few of these are pretty good, others, just so-so.

Cactus do have spines, so unfortunately, when there is wind, dirt and leaves and things stick to them. (I kept feeling I should pick these things off before shooting them. Except, of course, it's don't touch.)
