You can't complain too much if a provider of a free service doesn't do a
lot of hand holding, but there is a minimum level of support expected.
If that minimum level of support isn't met I'd simply sever my
relationship.
I was very disappointed with dropbox, when they discontinued the
features that I relied upon, and would have found a different provider
who did, except that I was able to use the app workaround supplied by
updog.co. I could could host some pretty complex client side gallery
software, but the simple HTML pages I use are fine with me.
True, creating a link to my web pages isn't as trivial as it used to be,
but it works and managing my storage space is just as easy as it always
was.
At least their terms of service doesn't give them any rights to my work
product, like most social media and dedicated photography sharing sites
seem to. My web pages, and my images, such as they are, belong to me.

I'm not overly perturbed but their transition was basically a ransom,
I think that they would have kept more people in the system allowing
free linkage to existing images but charging to add any, In any case I
have removed all my image from the site and deleted my account.

To me, there is an interesting statement near the end that talks about free
service ... I'm the earlier days, I also had that attitude. But then I
realized that it is the users who is the product, an that you are paying
with your information and your views.
And worse, in some cases you cannot pay instead of allowing your
information.
So, even providers of free services have responsibilities.
But I wouldn't rely on that...
I wonder what others think.
