I was at my local camera shop dropping off my 35mm f2.8 M series lens to
have the diarphram cleaned, as it is very sluggish. I was checking out the
used gear when a woman came in with an ME-S that the shutter whould not
trip. Yoou could use the advance lever but the shutter would not fire and
the mirror had been stuck up. The owner agreed that the shutter was damaged
and he did not offer repairs for the camaer. She decided to buy a K-1000
from the used case to use with her lenses. I offred to buy the the ME-S
from here (plus the everready case) for $25.00 US to use as parts for my
ME-S that looks a bit tatered. The meter did not work but I did not really
care about that. I brought the camera home and through a set of batteries
in it to see if ht old ones were dead and if the meter worked. Low and
behold the cmera workd great. All the shutter speeds seam to work well and
the meter is also working. I always thaough that the ME-S would fire at
1/125 of a second with out betteries. My old one does. I did get a bargin.
