Hi James, I'm afraid you're gonna have to go to the library to get any info. Look for June 1989 issue of Modern Photography magazine; there's a lens test for the 28-80. Seems like the test came out very favorably. I have 4 other F series lens and simply love its looks, the colorful lettering, the charcoal color tone of the barrel, almost like a work of art compare to today's ugly looking FA lenses, which I also have but don't love ;-).
You didn't ask but SF1 was reviewed in Oct '87 issue of Modern Photography.
