Today's the 7th anniversary of the first of our big quakes and there have been a couple of interesting articles recently about the ongoing effects.
First, one about the longer-term effects on kids. I suspect it's not just the quakes themselves but also a reflection of the stress on their parents as they wade through the troubles of insurance and repair/rebuild. https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/education/96211829/four-in-five-christchurch-primary-schoolers-exhibit-ptsd-symptoms-study-finds Secondly this article about some of the dodgy repairs that were made to houses. It's quite risky buying a house in this city now so many people are opting to build new. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11916129 It's not all doom & gloom though; the central city is starting to look a lot better now with plenty of new buildings going up. Still a long way to go but there's good progress being made.
