Hey PJ, I have had that happening to me before. Just clean the Battery Terminals with some alcohol and then rub dry. Try putting it back in the charger.
I request you check the Charger too for odd behaviour and like wise clean its terminals too. But before you throw away the Pentax OEM battery, if it is really bad, just give it a quick shock treatment. This battery is around 8 volts. So use an SMPS Adapter outputting 15 to 20 volts - your Laptop Charger should be fine - and briefly touch the terminals of the OEM Battery from the SMPS. Please take care of the Polarity. Regards.
