Thanks, Rick and Alan. First, it is not my hand, but that of one of the docents at the museum. Yes, that is a nozzle on the right. I also could not decide if the nozzle adds to the image or distracts, and I have a virtually identical image without the nozzle.
We were in the first group to enter the butterfly enclosure. According to the docent, this particular butterfly was found on the floor, trying to drink from a small splash of water on the concrete. To prevent someone from stepping on the butterfly, the docent sprayed water on her hand and induced the butterfly to fly onto her hand for the water. It appeared to be very thirsty. and it stayed on the hand for at least 20 minutes, during which time the docent kept spraying water on her palm for the butterfly to drink. I included the nozzle of the water bottle because of the story it tells, although I suspect the image is cleaner and more striking without it. Thanks to you both for looking, and I wish you both a wonder ful holiday and a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.
