Hi, I have the original metal rectangular hood (Super Tak 3.5/35 2/35) which works and looks great but is too shallow, I think it would be comfortable for 28mm lens. I have used the rectangular (plastic, clip-on) Asahi hood for 1.4/50 1.7/50 on the 2/35 with great success, it offers perfect shading even when using filter. Most often I have found that the original hood is often too shallow and a next step in focal length hood will work much better. Including a perfect metal (but not good for impacts and falls, as it's too rigid and will transform all force onto the lens) hood for 35mm lenses: Pentacon Praktica 50mm metal rectangular hood (49mm filter ring). To say it again, I got absolutely no vignetting using a 50mm lenshood (rectangular) on 2/35 and 2.8/35 lenses (the 2.8/35 is a chinon, same in optical construction as 3.5/35 = tessar plus one negative element). Even when I had a SMC filter installed on the lens. Good light, Frantisek Vlcek - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
