Sometimes things get botched up doing upgrades over existing
installations. Have you tried downloading the install files for
Firefox, uninstalling Firefox from your machine and doing a clean
install? It would seem the problem exists on your machine somewhere
since so many of the rest of us are having no problems.
If the problem persists after a clean install it would seem you have
three more choices:
* start eliminating what you consider potential conflicts (plug-ins,
etc) one by one until the problem is solved
* move to another browser that has no conflicts
* continue with Firefox and spike your blood pressure every time you
use it :-)

Also no problems with 58.0.2 on Win 10. Maybe the problem lies with the
search engine. Do you get the same response browsing to other sites?

No, I never got that response browsing ANY site until I installed the
"upgrade" to 58.0.2 and then I got that response with EVERY site.
Unless you mean changing my home page to a different non-anonymizing
search engine? I'm not going to do that.

Sooner or later "different" scares people.
