John:
It is the flower that you had in your photo, and it is the Texas state flower ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluebonnet_(plant) ).
Does it make the "right" flower? ;-)

Larry:
The "background" sort of image was the intent.
My daughter asked me for this type of photo - to take to the school where they were just studying the state symbols.

The subjects of other photos (another type of "flowers", - flowers of life at their parents' tombstone) ran away from this photo. ;-)

I was lazy or tired that morning to spend time to take any closeup shots.

Ann: Thanks. Yes, I may have accidentally left that part at the top, - probably did an accidental "undo" while working on the crop.

Err... I felt I was writing something wrong yesterday...
It should be "bluebonnets".
Blue Bell is the TX-local ice cream brand.

Paul: Thank you, I'll take a look at the levels and at the screen calibration. It seemed too dark, so, I kept brightening (exposure, and maybe shadows).

Both Saturday night and (especially) Sunday night, we had violent thunder and lightning, with gusty winds and several (3-4) periods of hail in our area. Nickel- and quarter-sized hail caused multi-thousand-dollar damages.
(Actually, in some cases, the hail was up to a golf-ball in size.)

But on Saturday, many people rushed to take photos in the patches of bluebells, - the state flower of Texas.

Also, one specific question: does this photo appear at the right brightness on your screen?

Thanks,
