After 11 years of hard use my DA*16-50/2.8 has finally failed. And no,
it's not the SDM focusing. That's worked flawlessly except for when I
was half way up Mount Washington in -9 F weather; it started working
again when I got down to lower elevations and higher temperatures.

Anyway, the zoom ring is stuck at 16mm and doesn't want to move. So
it's off to Precision Camera. Apparently it's a flat rate repair bill
of $212.50, which seems pretty reasonable. Can't really complain after
11 years of use that's seen the weather sealing thoroughly tested many
times.
