The K-1 is smaller than most full frame DSLRs. Even with the battery grip and a quick release plate attached I don’t find it encumbering,

I expect the K-1 with the D FA 28-105 will be comparable in weight to
a K-5 with the DA*16-50/2.8. In any case, as many PDMLers will attest,
I'm comfortable hiking with fairly heavy loads.

unfortunately, my bathroom scale that weighs down to 0.1 pounds won't weigh something that light, the one that weighs to 0.2 says

K-3 + 16-50 3.2 lbs
k-1 +28-105 3.4 pounds, but sometimes 3.2

However, my scale with .1lb/50g resolution gives the same weight for me plus the camera whichever one I'm carrying. Considering that one often pees more than 100ml in a single session, Mark's assumption of the two being about the same is undoubtedly correct to the accuracy of a single marking of a tree beside the trail.

Try a kitchen scale. Most newer electronic ones will handle up to about 11 pounds (5 kg) and measure in increments of 1 gram.
