I'm using a Spyder 2 with third party software called DisplayCal.
It does a lot of things the original software didn't, in addition to
allowing the Spyder, to be used to calibrate multiple monitors.
It just takes a very long time to do it's job, several hours on my
machine at least.
On the other hand the entire calibration setup was more or less free to
me so I can't complain to much, but that won't stop me from complaining
a bit.
