The butterfly season is pretty much over, but about a week ago I noticed a nice plump caterpillar on one of the potted tropical milkweeds on my deck. I kept an eye on it, and it attached itself to the rim of the pot, then constructed a perfect chrysalis. I brought the pot inside and place it in a net cage, so I can tag the butterfly for Monarch Watch when it emerges and before I release it for the big trip South.
