Understood Rick. If there is an area of 'corrosion' on the PCB, I certainly stand corrected. Have you ever spilled liquid on top of the keyboard or has it ever got wet? In normal domestic operation 'corrosion' on PCBs is not very common. The capacitor I mention is a design flaw in that it doesn't seem to have the longevity to do the job it's supposed to, hence when it fails the machine won't usually boot up. Replacing this cap will doubtless allow it to boot again. I'm not saying that this is viable for you, or that you should be doing this - all I'm saying is that most repair techs won't know about this (bad cap) issue and will put it down to anything else that fits into their sphere of recognition. I simply mention it because it is highly likely to be the cause of your 2008 MBP not booting up. If you're ever due this way, by all means bring it along and I'll fix it for you :-) Cheers! -- Cheers, Cotty ___/\__ UK Shoot / Edit and || (O) | Live Broadcast News ---------- <www.seeingeye.tv> _____________________________ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
