I'm not a big Dickens fan, but those are fine images.

Thanks. I'm not big on Dickens either. The fair is meant to represent a huge swath of Victorian England where you'll have people playing characters out of both fiction and history. Jules Verne, Queen Victoria, both young and old Scrooge.

In any case, it's like wandering around on stage while the play is happening so it is rich with photographic opportunities.

I used to "work" at Fezziwig's (where we portray the Christmas party from a Christmas carol), and my job was to dance with customers. The part I played was based on the mention that everyone came to the party, even the local baker, so I played Mr. Cook the baker. Our joke was that everyone would confuse me with Mr. Baker the milkman. I actually went in costume last week and when one of the current cast introduced herself, I replied "in character" and she commented that they had a Mr. Cook who was the baker as well. I was so amused that they reprised the role I had to meet him. Here is a picture where I am beside myself:

We went to Dickens Fair last weekend. If you've never been, it's like a
ren faire but Victorian rather than Elizabethan England. For that
matter, even if you have been, that's what it's like. It happens every
year at the Cow Palace (Daly City, just South of San Francisco). Apart
from the fun shows, food and various fun things to do, there are a lot
of great photo opportunities. We have tentative plans to head back
again on Sunday for closing day. If anyone want's to join/meet up with
us, drop me a note.

I got quite a few photos at a Luthier's booth that was set up very
nicely for photography:

I tend to spend a lot of my day at Fezziwig's

Bruce would have a lot of fun photographing the display at Dark Garden
corsets where people sign up to pose in fairly elaborate settings rather
than mannequins (I neglected to bring a polarizer)

My friend Jeremy performs with Brass Farthing, and I have a separate set
of their show:
