Hi, Wayne, I don't know about the non-Pentax products that you mention, but the K1000 doesn't have dof preview.
Having an MX, I do know that it can be coaxed to lock up the mirror by lightly flicking the shutter release with a fingernail (it helps if you practise). Whether this is actually designed into the shutter release, or is something unintended, that users have discovered is (I believe) a matter of conjecture, but it does work. BUT, it doesn't have an MLU switch or button per se. The other Pentaxes you mention may have this "feature", I don't know. And of course, the Pentaxes you mention have mechanical shutters, that work without batteries, the batteries powering only the meters - but of course you already knew that... regards, frank ww wrote: > i am down to the following list > chinon cm 5 > sigma sa1/ricoh kr7 > pentax kx, mx or k1000 > how evr the first 2 are really cheap > i would like the following mlu, dfp,not as important as the following shutter > speed can be regardless of battery being flat > > wayne > - > This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
