I don't know about the non-Pentax products that you mention, but the K1000
doesn't have dof preview.

Having an MX, I do know that it can be coaxed to lock up the mirror by lightly
flicking the shutter release with a fingernail (it helps if you practise).
Whether this is actually designed into the shutter release, or is something
unintended, that users have discovered is (I believe) a matter of conjecture, but
it does work.  BUT, it doesn't have an MLU switch or button per se.  The other
Pentaxes you mention may have this "feature", I don't know.

And of course, the Pentaxes you mention have mechanical shutters, that work
without batteries, the batteries powering only the meters - but of course you
already knew that...
