Like with prints, the choice of fixers determines the washing time.
Plain hypo is a pain and have not used it in years. My total wash time is
about 15 minutes.
I think the key is with each fill and adjitation cycle allow the
residule fixer to difuse to the water quicker due to the decreasing abounts
of fixer in the water and film.
I would not consider using it with sodium theosulphate without a
clearing agent or rapid fixer with a hardner. I reciently reprinted some
35mm negs from 30 and 15 years ago and there has been no signs of bleaching.
So, I guess, what I have been doing has worked for me.
