What a cool way to bring Salgado to the people. I caught the Genesis
show in Belém, Portugal on my trip to Lisbon a few years back, and it
was revelatory. And while it was in a great space, I think the way
they've mounted them photos outside is arguably more fitting.

On our recent trip we spent a day in Cartagena Spain. It was a Saturday, sunny
day, sidewalk cafes were full of people enjoying the sun and conversation with
friends. We walked up to an old fortress, nicely transmogrified into a small
history museum, then back down past the Roman amphitheater into the main
pedestrian area. Where I was stunned to see a large display of images from
Sebestiao Salgado’s Genesis project. Amazing work, amazingly displayed out
there on the street for all to enjoy.
The five images in the gallery linked below are not intended to provide copies
of the Salgado images themselves, but rather to show what the public display
was like. You can find Salgado's work online or in your local fine-art
photobook store...
