I might have mentioned this book before, but I was just reviewing a couple of sections of it and was impressed once more with how excellent it is.
"A Triumph of Genius: Edwin Land, Polaroid, and the Kodak Patent War" by Ronald Fierstein Who could have imagined that a huge, thick book about a patent suit could be such an amazing page turner that I just couldn't put down? The first half of the book is all about Edwin Land and Polaroid, all about the creation of instant film technology, and if that's all it was about, it would be enough and an extremely satisfying read. The second half of the book is all about the patent war with Kodak ... and despite the incredible detail and blow-by-blow discussion of the ins and outs of this very long, very technical law suit, it is *still* nearly impossible to put the book down, the author's storytelling is that good. Anyone interested in a history of photographic intrigue and a glimpse into the personalities and foibles of two of the biggest powers in photography of the 20th century should definitely take this book out for a read. It's available from Amazon.com in print, Kindle format, and Audible audiobook. I bought both the print volume and the audiobook, and glad that I did. Let me know what you think if you read it.
