Portra NC 160, when rated at the suggested speed is quite unsaturated and muted. In fact, I find it a bit lacking in punch and expose it about a half stop over. However for certain things where I want muted tones, I expose it at the advertised speed. Transparency film is a bit trickier, because it's a one step process. But I've found that Ektachrome 100WS is reasonably subtle, due to its warm tonality. Overexposing it by about 1/4 stop gives it a somewhat muted feel. Paul
